services within the Building IT sector. Building IT encompasses all Extra Low Voltage
(ELV) services including:

Market Feedback
IBMS was formed following industry feedback which included extensive discussions
with consultants, contractors and end users in the broader Australian market and, more
particularly, major users in Western Australia. The overwhelming message from this
survey is that there is a demand for an independent systems integrator offering a full
range of design, project management, installation, commissioning and maintenance
services – without the normal conflict of interests which arise from being tied to any
particular product range or systems philosophy.

Industry Gap
A Gap has been developing in the market over the last 10 years or so which has been
created by the mergers and acquisitions of many of the traditional suppliers and their
focus on product volumes and corporate benchmarking. These mergers and acquisitions
along with the introduction of open systems and the commoditization of control products
has created confusion regarding the technological direction the industry is heading.
Decisions such as “Which horse to back, if any” are becoming more and more difficult.
This has been even more complicated by the reduction in skill base brought about by
these amalgamations.
